Key moments
For more than three generations we develop and and manufacture paint products. Our story begins in 1898 with Printing Ink and Paint Factory “t Anker” in Steenwijk, Overijssel, founded by the Aberson family.
In 1946Adriaan Stuy starts on the Molenwal in the Frisian town of Gorredijk, a sales office called A. Stuy Paint and Snowcream Dealer. At 19621962Stuy builds a new business building on Main Street. The name of the company will be changed to Stuy Paints.

In 1978Printing ink and paint factory ‘t Anker is taken over by Stuy Paints. The companies remain producing in Terwispel and Steenwijk.
In 1982 theydecided to continue production centrally. Terwispel is chosen as the location.The premises in Terwispel are further modernized and converted into one production location. The company continued under the name Anker Stuy Paints.
In 2019, Anker Stuy Coatings Ltd. was established in Peterborough, England. This will allow the Anker Stuy brand to be anchored in this market. Also, today’s complex issues regarding sustainability and the environment are important topics for the third generation to work on.

Second generation
In the 1980’sthe two sons of Adriaan Stuy, John and Rob Stuy, also enter the thriving family business. Through their dynamic commitment and flexibility are ensuring the continuity and growth of the company and grow Anker Stuy Paints becomes the market leader as a paint supplier for the joinery industry in the Netherlands.
Third generation
In 2005 Armand Stuy, a son of John, joined the company. In 2010, John’s other son, Emile Stuy joins the company aswel. When John 2020 retires both sons enter the management of the company. Together with Rob they form the management of Anker Stuy Paints. Because of increased exports and a new opened branch in England they changed the official company name in 2022 To Anker Stuy Coatings.
