A CLT element is fully bonded (see photo left) and consists of three to eleven layers. The element can withstand tensile and compressive forces very well because the layers are cross-glued. As a result, CLT keeps itself completely rigid.
However, because it remains a natural product, a number of points require attention for optimal protection. Anker Stuy Coatings has several solutions, for example, to combat yellowing or to properly seal end grain.
Transparent protection
CLT parts that are exposed with daylight (UV light) will influence the discolouration of the wood. Anker Stuy has products that let the wood breathe and give it a natural finish, but also offer resistance to UV light. These slightly film forming products like Ankolux Woodstain are ideal for industrial use or if necessary on the building site itself.
