Film-forming systems

Film-forming systems (lacquers) are easy to clean and re-lacquering of a floor, depending on the load, is only necessary after years of use.

With very matt varnishes there is a danger of gloss streaks forming. This is caused by scraping the floor with a hard object, which results in a polishing effect. Damages are more difficult to repair.

When processing, it is important that the surface has a wood humidity of preferably 12 percent, a Relative Humidity between 55 and 65 percent and a temperature from 18 degrees Celsius. Colours are possible with, for example, a suitable stain under the lacquer finish.

Oil

Oil gives an aesthetically natural appearance. With heavily used floors the choice for a hard wax or varnish finish will be made more quickly. When treating with oil it is always important to look for the saturation point. This means that after application the surface should always be rubbed down to remove excess material, otherwise there is a risk of glare spots.

An oiled floor generally requires two-weekly maintenance and two to three times a year intensive cleaning. Damages can be repaired locally and invisibly.

Hardwax

Hardwax has the advantages of both varnish, high wear resistance and that of oil, aesthetic natural look and easy to repair. A floor can be treated with hardwax 2 to 3 times. Hardwax has a good resistance to moisture and chemicals.

Oil and hardwax can both be made in any desired colour through the unique colour mixing system. Opaque colours should first be coloured with a stain.

Manual application

Colours & stains:

Aplexol Color Effect Stain (40-285-xxxx) for wood types containing tannic acid such as oak
Aquanyl Stain (40-2900-xxxx) for most types of wood. It is important to be careful with wood types containing tannic acid, such as oak.

Finishing – Final coat

VARNISH: Aplexol Aqua PU Parquet Finish (40-72x-0001). Available in matt, semi-gloss and gloss.
OIL: Aplexol Natural Oil (40-850-0011) and Aplexol Power 2K Oil (40-850-0025 – 10:3 40-800-0600 Harder). In view of the rapid drying we recommend adding 5-10% Aplexol Dry Slow (40-980-0011_) for large surfaces.
HARDWAX: Aplexol Hardwax Ease (40-872-0100)

Industrial application (automatic varnishing or oiling line)

HD Aqua Roller Primer (40-1350-0027) – Roller 1x 15-20 gr/m2
HD Lux Parquet rolling primer (40-1350-0151) – Roller 2x 20-30 gr/m2
HD Lux Rocksolid rolling varnish matt (40-1302-0153) – Roller 2x 6-8 gr/m2

Oil system

HD Natur Parquet Oil (40-8500-0023) – Roller 1x 15-20 gr/m2 with wiping (possibly coloured with 40-3850 colourc)
HD Natur 2K Oil (40-8500-0025) – Roller 1x 15-20 gr/m2 with wiping

Oil system UV-curing

HD Natur UV Oil (40-1380-0080) – Roller 1x 15-20 gr/m2 with wiping (possibly tinted with 40-3850 colourc)
HD Natur UV Parquet Oil (40-1380-0010) – Roller 1x 15-20 gr/m2 with wiping (possibly coloured with 40-3850 colourc)

There are many possibilities. Depending on how a varnish or oil street is built up, we can give an advice for a system.

Attention: Do not process oxidative drying products (air drying products) simultaneously with easily inflammable materials such as Nitro Cellulose lacquers or Nitro Cellulose lacquer stains, because of auto-ignition. Hang out the used sheets and let them dry before disposing of them in the appropriate container (or keep sheets under water if necessary) because of a possible scorching effect.
